KISS frontman Gene Simmons’ 18-year old daughter Sophie Simmons was recently involved in a multi-vehicle crash in Los Angeles.
It was reported by TMZ.com that the accident occurred while Sophie was stuck in traffic. Allegedly, a car behind her plowed right into her Dodge Charger while she was stopped which caused her to crash into the car in front of her. The rear-end crash triggered a chain accident which ended up as a four-car pile-up with Sophie right in the middle of it.
Sophie Simmons had to be taken to the hospital after the crash because she banged her head against the steering wheel. Allegedly, she was wearing her seatbelt but her vehicle’s airbag failed to deploy after the crash.
In highly populated cities like Los Angeles, getting involved in automobile chain accidents is always a possibility when you’re out on the road. After all, no matter how careful you drive, there are reckless and negligent drivers out there who can cause a collision even if you’re stopped because of a traffic sign.
Chain accidents happen more often when the traffic is great – usually, it starts with a rear-end collision that can push the struck vehicle to crash into the vehicle in front of it. This 3-vehicle collision can be further aggravated if once those vehicles are stopped in the middle of the road, other drivers who may be driving too fast to stop or are too distracted to notice the road hazard ahead get involved in the crash as well.
Due to the number of the parties involved – determining liability in a chain car accident can be difficult. If you were injured in such a crash or if your vehicle sustained heavy damage, make sure you do the following in order to protect your claim:
• Stay at the scene of the accident and call the police.
• If you’re injured, seek medical attention and keep track of your medical and/or doctor’s report.
• Get the names and contact information of the parties involved in the chain collision. Make sure you take down the plate numbers of the vehicles.
• Take pictures of the accident scene and try to get information from witnesses or the scene itself (take note of tire marks or the weather as well as the traffic signs).
• Hire a car accident attorney to help you file a personal injury lawsuit and pursue compensation against the liable party/parties.
